We currently have an opening for a Corporate Cost Accountant in our South Deerfield, MA location.
SUMMARY
Responsible for maintaining costing data within the SAP System to ensure accurate valuation of inventory, logs and profitability.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, design, and implement reports for the purpose of providing management and other internal stakeholders information regarding the revenue generated, the resources expensed, and the profits earned in performing various facets of the operations.
Plan, design and implement reports for the purpose of valuing inventory and cost of sales in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Plan, design, and implement reports to report on revenue, cost, and contributions by product and product grouping. Investigate, analyze, and report on the cost drivers of departmental processes and ways to improve efficiencies.
Investigate, analyze and report on proposed large expenditures and their projected benefit.
Investigate, analyze and report on production cost variances. Plan, design and implement systems to minimize these variances.
Analyze requests for complex financial and compliance information. Evaluate the need and impact of the information requested. Determine the proper form and format to communicate the information to internal stakeholders.
Investigate and analyze balance sheet transactions for accuracy utilizing financial understanding to source and validate transactions. Plan, design and implement systems changes to improve reporting methods. Create adjusting entries for erroneous transactions.
Investigate, analyze and classify transactions from various company entities for reporting in compliance with GAAP standards. Plan, design and implement changes to reporting methodologies to improve the speed and accuracy of the closing cycle.
Investigate, analyze and set the labor and overhead rates for the numerous complex processes of the different divisions. The cost accountant needs to determine, using their training and experience, the method and rates that will provide the truest cost of each operation.
Plan, design and implement production cost reports.
Plan, design and implement production cost and inventory value reports for the benefit of outside auditors and commercial lenders.
Perform other related duties as required or directed.
Qualification Guidelines
4-year degree in accounting/finance required.
Knowledge of SAP preferred.
3-5 years' experience in cost accounting required.
Must have the ability to complete assignments within time frame specified by the Manager.
Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
